#1A. The name of the leader that inspired me was FDR.
#1B He exceled at the critical thinking and problem solvining (survival skill 1).
#1C I feel this way because he was the president when our nation was at its worst and he still found a way to give people hope and help them through this difficult time in history.
#1D.FDR demonstrated the habit of Being Proactive and the habit of seek first to understand, then to be understood ( habit one and habit five).
#1E. I believe this because he took charge of his nation in a time of crisis and despare and he took reponsiblity for his actions and didn't blame other people for them. He also listened to peoples problems and and conserned before saying how he felt about the people.

#2A. The name of the leader that inspired me was Dennis Delano.
#2B. He followed the sixth survial skill of accessing and analizing information.
#2C I feel this way because when he worked on his cases he analized the evidence and because of that he found mistakes that others had made and released an innocent man from prison and put the actual man behind bars.
#2D. Mr. Delano followed the habit of begining with an end in mind, which is the 2nd habit. #2E. He followed this because he began all his cases thinking he was going to solve them. He made that his goal and he wouldn't rest until he could come up with an answer.

#3A. THe name of the leader that inspired me was Robert Smith.
#3B. He followed the second survial skill of leading by influence.
#3C. I believe this because the was Jessica talked about him he sounded like he was a real leader and tried to influence his children.
#3D. I feel that he followed the habits of think win-win and synergize (habit 4 and habit 6). #3E. This is because he so unded like a really optomistic man who never gave up and just wanted everyone to be happy. He never gave up on his children and worked with them to help them acomplish what the want to acomplish.

I feel that I did a pretty good job digging deep inside myself to figure out how I could put these incredible leaders in only 5 short answers each. I could have added more detail into the answers, but then with all the details and personal stories they told about their leaders I don't think it could have fit on this blog.

1d) Habit #2-Begin with the end in mind

    3a) Ruby Bridges
3b) Survival Skill #3-Agility and adaptability
3c) I think she was very adaptable because she had to go into an all white school when she was black and no one accepted her yet. But she still went to get an education even though it would be dangerous for her.
3d) Habit #2-Begin with the end in mind
3e)She excels in this habit because she took a risk to go to an all white school when the schools were still segregated and to get an education at a very young age(6).

I think that this quiz was a great learning experience for me because it helped me clear my mind to all the important leaders in our history. It also helped me realize that a leader could be someone who you've known forever like a family member or a leader in history or even just a young child.

    #1B. Critical thinking&Problem Solving
#1C. I chose this skill because Robert Smith seemed to always be thinking no matter what. He thought about everything that everyone said to him and he definitely paid attention to what he was saying to other people. His quote "Pay attention now, because I'll quiz you later" further proves this.
#1D. Begin and End with the mind habit #2.

    #2D. Be Proactive, habit #1
#2E. I feel this is a good habit to describe FDR. I feel this way because of what a great president he was. He knew that when he inherited the country during the Great Depression that it was in desperate need of help. He set up Fireside Chats and New Deals to help. Also the opportunity for jobs and soup kitchens to help people out. He didn't just sit by and wait for something to happen. He did something and made a difference. Because of that, he was the only president elected to serve four terms. He was an effective leader.

    #3A. Dennis Delano
    #3B. Initiative and Entrepreneurialism
#3C. I chose this skill because in one of the cases he solved, The Lynn Dejac case, the police called off all of the investigations to prove her innocent. That didn't stop Dennis Delano because even though he would get suspended for a little while he still kept going and he was a proactive person and did something rather than just observing from the sidelines.
    #3D. Be Proactive Habit #1
#3E. I feel this is a good habit to describe Dennis Delano. I feel this way because he did so much to help the trials of Anthony Capozzi and Lynn Dejac. He knew that they were wrongly accused and did something about it. He gathered evidence and helped them out as much as he could. Instead of waiting for someone else to take action he took action. This is why he was a great leader.

    1a. Debbie Bliss
1b. Survival skill #7: "Curiosity and Imagination"
1c. I chose this Survival Skill because my aunt can come up with many different activities to do with her granddaughter who is 3. They will do different crafts and give them to Kayleigh's other grandma, mom and great grandma who love them. Debbie will also tell her granddaughter stories that she made up. My aunt will come up with other stuff to do with the family. She is fun and has quite an imagination.
1d. Habit #3 "Put First Things First"
1e. I chose this habit because my aunt is always putting everyone before herself and helping people out when they need it. She puts family and friends first, then work, then she will take time for herself. The most important thing in her life would be her family. Debbie prioritizes by putting important things in her life first.

    2a. Mother Teresa
2b. Survival skill #2: "Collaboration Across Networks & Leading by Influence"
2c. I chose this survival skill for her because her organization "Missionaries of Charity" has spread world wide. It helps people who are in need of care such as the sick, poor and homeless. Since her organization was so great, Pope Paul VI wanted to make an International Religious Family out of it.
2d. Habit #5 "Seek First to Understand, Then to Be Understood"
2e. I chose this habit because Mother Teresa would help the people in India that were poor and sick. She listened to their needs and made the "Missionaries of Charity" which has charity centers, orphanages and places that the homeless, poor, disabled, sick and anyone in need can go. "Missionaries of Charity" has spread throughout the world. Since Mother Teresa listened to people she was able to help them get what they needed.

    3a. Patrick Kaleta.
3b. Survival skill #3: "Agility and Adaptability"
3c. I chose this Survival skill for him because he needs to have great agility when skating on the ice. His adaptability would be helping people with to achieve their goals of becoming athletes with his HITS foundation where kids get to achieve their goals of becoming professional athletes. The foundation also helps kids with special needs. Patrick was also man of the year for community service for 2006-2007.
3d. Habit #2 "Begin with the End in Mind"
3e. I chose this habit because Kaleta has a goal to help under-served communities, low income families, disabled children, and people with special needs. He does this through his HITS foundation and by being a spokesperson at Cradle Beach Camp. His HITS foundation with our help will help with funding for people with special needs, low-income families and under-served communities. HITS also helps kids to achieve their goals at becoming great athletes and to get the chance he did at being on a professional sports team. At Cradle Beach Camp he helps with disabled children and children with disadvantages. Kaleta's goal is to help people in need.

#1C. I made this choice because Kristen is 28 years old, has four kids and yet she just opened a business this past year.

    #2A.Charles Smith
#2B. Survival Skill number 1: Critical thinking and problem solving
#2C. Whenever we get ourselves into a predicament Uncle Chuck is the one that always gets us out unscathed. For example during the October Storm my Uncle shot a deer and five of us went out to track it, but guess what we shockingly got lost. So Chuck whips out his handy dandy compass and lead us out of the woods unharmed.
    #2D.Habit number one: Be proactive
#2E.I made this choice because whenever chuck want something to change he changes it. For example Chuck and his wife can't have children so Chuck joined adoption star so that they could adopt a baby. They now happily have a 4 month old little boy named tyler.

    #3A.Ariel Skarbek
    #3B.Survival skill number 7: Imagination

    #1A. Momma Bradley
#1B. Survival Skill #1: Critical Thinking and Problem Solving.
#1C. She always thinks about the most realistic answer to whatever problems come her way. If I have a problem, she tells me what she would do, and having her share her way of thinking with me can help me tackle anything I may face in the future.
#1D. Habit #2: Begin with an End in Mind.
#1E. She was diagnosed with cancer around the time I started school, and she didn't exactly know what the outcome was going to be, yet she fought through and had a positive attitude. Also, a few years ago, a bank she was assistant vice president of had shut down. This meant she was out of a job, and she didn't know what to do. Since then, she has tried finding other jobs, and what would work for her, and it all worked out in the end (as of right now). She found a job locally, and it’s something she loves doing, which is banking. Her main focus was how it was going to work out for our family in the end.

    #2A. Sarah Reukauf
#2B. Survival Skill #7: Curiosity and Imagination.
#2C. Sarah is only three years old, and she was born two months premature. When she was born she weighed less than two pounds, and nobody thought she was going to make it. At the hospital, she had her Christening and everything because of how weak she was, and how small of a chance she had. She is still really little, but all she does is ask questions about everything. She has a very curious personality.
    #2D. Habit 4: Think Win-Win
#2E. Even though she is only three years old, she sees the best in everyone, and expects only good out of them. I think that is a good trait to have at a very young age.

    #3A. Daddy Bradley
#3B. Survival Skill 5: Accessing and Analyzing Information.
#3C. My dad knows a lot about computers and the company he works for. He is a great leader with his work team. Every time there is a problem, he tries to figure out everything causing the problem, and does whatever possible to try and fix it.
#3D. Habit 2: Begin With an End in Mind
#3E. My dad does so much for my family, and I know he only wants to help us out in the end. At work he tries as hard as he can, because he knows it will only get him farther in the field he is working in. My mom, my sister and I don't see him a lot because he's either golfing or working, but I know that we are his number one.

#1B. He possessed Skill 1, “Critical Thinking and Problem Solving”
#1C. I easily made this choice because he always told me that every day is it’s own and that you cannot let the past hold you down.
#1D. He demonstrated Habit 1 because he showed me to keep my head held high at all times and to just be me and do things to make me happy, not others.
1E. I remember I used to get picked on a lot for being extremely short but he would tell me that it’s ok and give me reasons as to why being a short girl is a good thing. He taught me to flaunt my imperfections rather than try to hide them.

    #1A. Lance Armstrong.
#1B. Of the “7 Survival Skills” he possesses Number 4- “Initiative & Entrepreneurialism.”
#1C. Lance Armstrong was diagnosed with testicular cancer, but instead of letting that destroy him he took initiative and came back to win the Tour De France.
#1D. Of The 7 Habits, he displays Habit 4- “Think Win-Win.”
#1E. Armstrong didn’t just give up he not only wanted to overcome the cancer, but also return to biking, and be better than he was before. His attitude definitely played a factor in this. Without a positive attitude, he would never have been able to deal with the situation like he did and rebound as well as he did.

    #2A. Kerri Strug.
#2B. She possesses Survival Skill 3- “Agility & Adaptability.”
#2C. Strug was an Olympic gymnast who broke her ankle during the Olympic Games. It was the gold medal game, and although she had a broken ankle she chose to vault anyways. She landed with her good ankle, the other one in the air, and still received the gold medal.
#2D. Strug posses Habit 2- “Begin with the End in Mind.”
#2E. She knew what she came to the Olympics to do, and she was determined to complete her task she had worked so hard to achieve. These things are a once in a lifetime opportunity, so instead of giving up she kept the end in mind by focusing on her goal and reaching it.

    #3A. Kat Osterman.
#3B. Osterman possesses Survival Skill 2- “Collaboration Across Networks & Leading By Influence.”
#3C. Osterman is a lefty pitcher. She used to pitch at the very least every three days because she said it would throw off her timing if she didn’t. That meant that when she went on vacation, her and her dad would find somewhere to pitch. It was her life. Instead of following in another pitcher’s footsteps, she took it into her own hands and became one of the best in the world.
#3D. She possesses Habit 1- “Be Proactive.”
#3E. Osterman didn’t sit around and practice once a week. As a child she practiced all the time, so she could excel rapidly and become the best she could possibly be.

I think I did well on this activity because I used people that pertain to my life, especially with sports, and their experiences are guiding me some of my own.

1a. my first inspirational leader would be Shaun White.
1b. I think that the 7th Survival Skill of the 21st Century “Curiosity and imagination” is the one that he portrays.
1c. the reason I picked the 7th on is because Shaun White is not only a great snowboarder, but he also has a congenital heart defect. His certain defect is Tetralogy of Fallot. He was diagnosed with this when he was born. The reason I picked the 7th on is because he has to have imagination if he had a major heart problem and he still tried snowboarding and became the first two time gold medalist in the half pipe.
1d. I think that he shows the 1st Habit of Highly Effective Teens “Be Proactive.
1e. the reason I picked the 1st Habit is because if he has a major heart defects then he has to be a very responsible for his life.

2a. my second inspirational leader would be Steve Prefontaine.
2b. I think that he had the 1st Survival Skill Needed in the 21st Century “Critical Think and Problem Solving”.
2c. the reason I chose the 1st skill is because he had to think about each race and plan out how he was going to run each one.
2d. I think that he also had the 2nd Habit of Highly effective Teens “Begin with the end of Mind”.
2e. the reason that I picked the 2nd habit is because he never wanted to come in second for a race all he wanted is first and he, for the most part, he did only come in first.

3a. my third inspirational leader is Jaime Wallace.
3b. I think that she holds the 7th Survival Skills Needed in the 21st Century “Curiosity and Imagination.”
3c. the reason I chose the 7th skill is because she never is thinking about how rational something is he just does it and is imaginative. She is also very curious, she never lets anything pas her.
3d. I feel that Jaime has the 2nd Habit of Highly Effective Teens “begin with the end of mind.”
3e. the reason I picked the 2nd habit is because she has set he mind to many thingas and she will not give up until she achieves those goals.

1b. Survival Skill 2: Collaboration across networks and leading by influence
1c. My sister is the biggest influence in my life, as she is always there for me for whatever I need. She isn't a parent to me, but she always tries to make good decisions, with me in mind. Especially through the divorce of my parents, she was there for me when they were not and influenced me a lot to get me on the right path.
1d. Habit 3: Put First Things First
1e. My sister is always extremely busy with college work and all of the things she is involved in. She prioritizes and makes sure that she starts a project as soon as she gets it, so then she is not overloaded with work right before it's due. Her methods have paid off, as she is doing very well in school!

    2a. Zooey Deschanel
    2b. Survival Skill 7: Curiosity & Imagination
2c. Through the roles that she plays, I'm continuously inspired by the individuality that she always has. She is always extraordinarily creative and always just her own person in these roles.
2d. Habit 7: Sharpen the Saw
2e. I once watched this show that had a lot to do with her life, and it became evident that she was very into doing things that were good for her.

    3a. My mom
3b. Survival Skill 1: Critical Thinking and Problem Solving
3c. As my mother, she is always there for me. There have been a lot of times in my life when I've questioned things and didn't know what to do at the right time. She has taught me to be quite analytical at certain times, which helps me do the right thing a lot. I know how to analyze situations, problems, etc. and make the best choice.
3d. Habit 7: Sharpen the Saw
3e. Often, I get overwhelmed with school, work, or family things. My mom helps me when I go to see her on some weekends. She will make it be a completely relaxing weekend, where I can just take a bath, read, relax, and sleep as much as I need. It's so nice to have that break and renew myself. She is very laid back, and she does these things often.

#1A. My inspirational leader is Melissa Kurzdorfer.
#1B. Melissa shows the survival skill number one, which is critical thinking and problem solving.
#1C. Melissa doesn’t let yesterday’s solutions solve tomorrow’s problem. She never lets anyone or anything ever get in her way. She is a strong and bold young lady who has a goal in life.
#1D. Melissa Kurzdorfer represents a majority of habit number two, which is defining your missions and goals in life.
#1E. I made this choice, because it takes a lot to do what Melissa does. It involves a lot of agility and working out to stay in shape. She is a great leader and lets nothing stand in her way. I wouldn’t be surprised if she made it to the Olympics one day, because her soul is her sports.

#2A. My Aunt Jean is another great inspirational leader in my life.
#2B. My Aunt shows survival skill number four, which is initiative and entrepreneurialism. #2C. Auntie Jean believes in herself to the point where no one can stop her or bring her down. Once she has her mind set, she shoots for the stars. She does great things in life and shows fantastic things in life. She makes something of herself.
#2D. My Aunt presents habit number four, which is think win- win.
#2E. My Aunt always has a positive attitude that you can do anything you want as long as you believe in yourself. She doubts nothing and has superb spirit.

#3A. Another inspirational leader in my life is my best friend Ricky.
#3B. Ricky is always showing survival skill number seven, which is curiosity and imagination.
#3C. Ricky is always up to doing new things and trying at his best. Once, we were camping and my cousins’ chair broke. Ricky used his imaginations and used materials that were around us to fix the chair. Ricky is like no other person; he looks at life differently and always finds things to do that occupy his time. He is never bored.
#3D. When I read habit number three; put things first, I think of Ricky.
#3E. Ricky put school first before anything. He manages the honor role almost every quarter and is very intelligent. I wanted to hang out with him this one time and he said he couldn’t because he had a huge test the next day. This shows responsibility in school and that he has his priorities right.

I think I did really good on this quiz and I put effort in my answers.

    #1A. Sharon Tamol

#1b. My Aunt Sharon would receive survival skill #5 “Effective oral & written Communication.”

#1C. I gave her this skill because she is always trying to help me with all my problems. When I can’t talk to anyone else she is always there for me. She says things that help me understand things better. She talks to me about why my dad, and why he left. She also tells me all her experiences that may help me think twice of the consequences before I go ahead and do it.

#1D. She deserves the 3rd habit “Put First Things First”

#1E. I gave her this habit because she puts us firsts. If me or my family gets hurt she would be on the first plane from Arizona back to New York. She even said that she would move back here and leave her awesome paying job to be back here if anything were to happen to us. So we are her first priority.

    # 2A. Lorrie Stewart
#2B. The survival skill she would get is #3 "Agility and adaptability."
#2C. This is the best one for my mom because she adapted with the new house, my dad leaving, and trying her best to make us all happy. She is now a manager at her job and she is amazing at it. She had little time to adjust to it and her to be by herself taking care of business, and making the schedules and other hard things that she is in charge of. She is also adapting to the fact that we are by ourselves without my dad around so now she has to take care of everything that breaks instead of him. I think she is doing a great job with all that stuff to, she fixed the door and the back lights of her car without my dad around.
#2D.The habit that fits her is Habit #1 "Be Proactive."
#2E. This Habit fits her because she is taking control of her life, she isn't being bossed around by my dad anymore. She is doing things herself. She takes some responsibility for the divorce, she knows that it wasn't all his fault. She is living her life the way she wants to.

    #3A. Michael Jackson.
#3B. Survival Skill # 2 "Collaboration Across Networks & Leading by Influence."
#3C. I chose this for him because he influences people with his music. Most of his music is about how people should take care of the earth and be kind to one another. Music can be very convincing. His songs are very moving. I know when I listen to them I want to do something about the world, especially the song "We are the Children."
#3D. His Habit would be #4 "Think Win-Win."
#3E. I think this habit is right for him because he always was trying to get people to protect the earth and he probably expected that people will help try to keep the Earth a safe place and people would be happier if the oceans weren't so polluted, their kids could be safer as well. So it he could have thought in a win-win situation. This is why I picked this for him.

    #1A. Steve Prefontaine
#1B. Survival Skill #4: Initiative and Entrepreneurialism
#1C. Steve Prefontaine possessed this survival skill because he wasn't afraid to speak up for what he believed in. He took leadership when he spoke up and rebelled against the AAU, giving athletes the right to now chose what they compete in, and raising how much they get paid for it.
#1D. Habit 2: Begin with the End in Mind
#1E. I chose habit 2 for Steve Prefontaine because he knew what he wanted from his career and wouldn't settle for less. When he was offered a great deal to go pro, he chose to remain an amateaur athlete so that he could compete in the Olympics again, even if it meant that he would have to continue living off of food stamps. He also "began with the end in mind" because he viewed a race as "a work of art," so instead of running a race at a winning pace, he would run it at a "suicide pace."

    #2A. Greg Cole
    #2B. Survival Skill #3: Agility & Adaptability
#2C. My dad has this survival skill because he always tries to find a positive solution instead of simply doing whatever is easiest at the time. He is a good leader, and is always able to come up with more that one way to do one single action.
    #2D. Habit 4: Think Win-Win
#2E. My dad thinks win-win, because he will come up with a solution to everything, where it turns out good for everyone. When something bad happens, he tells me to view it as a learning experience and he figures out a way to effectively solve it. When I lost my phone, he calmed me down and told me that now I know how important it is to look behind you and make sure that you have everything, and he told me that they would find his old phone for me to use until I was able to get a new one. He has always helped me get through and understand difficult situations, which I am very thankful for.

    #3A. Amanda Kosicki
#3B. Survival Skill #5: Effective Oral & Written Communication
#3C. My cousin, Amanda is a very good communicator because she says what is on her mind, in a polite way, and is very helpful too. When I was young she taught me how to write neatly and has had a positive impact on me throughout my life.
#3D. Habit 7: Sharpen the Saw
#3E. She is extremely hard working, which gives her good grades in school. I think that she is able to study and work so hard, because she also takes good care of herself. She takes the time to go out with friends and have fun so that she is able to work hard when she needs to. She has proved to me how it is just as important to have fun, as it is to work hard.
